Parking Garage

The Parking Garage located in front of the terminal has four levels, the first is dedicated to rental car services and the second, third and fourth to public parking. Of the 1,200 spaces, 800 are covered and there are enclosed walkways from the garage to the terminal. Follow the red signs to the lot which is open all year round, 24 hours a day and where you can pay both by card and in cash.

Park & Ride

For those looking to save on parking, head to the Park & Ride Lot where just over 1,000 spaces are available. To reach the terminal building you can take the free shuttle service which runs every ten minutes and gets you to the terminal building in no time at all. To get there follow the green signs off Eisenhower Airport Parkway and remember that, as the lot is not attended by a cashier, you must pay by card.

Economy Lot

If you are looking for low prices with the convenience of not having to take a transfer service, then opt for the Economy Lot. It offers over 400 spaces and the chance to walk the short distance to the terminal building. To drive there look for the blue signs which take you just past the Parking Garage entrance.

Close-in Automated Lot

The Close-in Automated Lot, providing almost 200 spaces, is located next to the Parking Garage, near the terminal building. Charging the same prices as the Parking Garage, to reach it just look for the orange signs as you approach the airport. It is open 24 hours, a day seven days a week but, as there isn’t a cashier attending, payment must be made by card.

Cell Phone Lot

If you are collecting a passenger then try the Cell Phone Lot where you can park for an hour free of charge while you wait for them. Once your guest has landed and called, you can drive straight to the terminal building to collect them. The Cell Phone Lot is located off Eisenhower Airport Parkway, past the Park & Ride Lot, and is clearly sign-posted.

All parking lots offer the first 30 minutes free of charge, so if your passenger is waiting for you it’s possible to head to the closest lot and go meet them. All surface lots provide ADA accessible parking, as does the Parking Garage. The Pay On Foot Stations, located in the baggage claim area and the northwest of the garage near the Close-In Lot, are there so you can pay for your parking before you collect your car, saving you time at the exit.

Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT), also known as Eisenhower National Airport or simply Wichita Airport, provides non-stop flights to 12 destinations. Located in Wichita, named the “Air Capital of the World” due to it becoming a hub for aircraft production in the 1920s and 1930s, it is the largest and busiest airport in Kansas and attends to over one and a half million passengers a year from its single terminal. The most popular routes from Wichita Airport are to Dallas Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare and are provided by American Airlines and United Airlines. Following the rebuilding of the terminal in 2015 Wichita Airport has earned the reputation of being a new, clean and easy to navigate airport.

Location of Wichita Airport

Wichita Airport is located approximately seven miles (11 kilometers) west of downtown Wichita in Kansas and if you want to travel downtown there are various methods available. For rental car facilities visit the first floor of the parking garage where a number of concessions can be found.

You also have the option of taking a taxi, limo, a private shuttle or a shared ride to make the approximately ten minute trip to the center of Wichita. All transport options are located outside the terminal, within 130 meters of the entrance.

If you are planning on traveling further afield you can take a Greyhound bus or an Amtrak train from downtown Wichita, both located approximately seven miles (11 kilometers) from ICT Airport. They provide connections to many major cities throughout the USA.

History of Wichita Airport

Work began on the original airport in Wichita in 1929 on the site now occupied by the Kansas Aviation Museum. The decision to convert the site into an Air Force Base in the 1950s meant a new location was needed for the commercial airport. The current site was chosen and in 1954 ICT began attending to commercial passengers. With two of the factories producing over half the world’s aviation twin engines and turbojet aircraft locating next to the airfield, Wichita soon became known in the aviation world and the following decades saw the need for expansion. The airport was once again renamed and in 2014 became Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, in honor of the former, Kansas-born president. Despite the constant renovation the entire terminal was considered obsolete and replaced in 2015, creating the modern terminal in place today.

Airport facilities

Wichita Airport is a small airport offering some basic shopping and dining options. If you want to buy a last-minute souvenir, eat a pre-flight meal or have drink, there are various options to do so.
